The country may be enjoying one of the hottest summers on record but Wakefield Council is encouraging people to get ready for the winter months – by applying for funding for home insulation so that work can be carried out before the cold weather kicks in.
The BeWarm Wakefield scheme has grants available for qualifying households, to help them cover the costs of installing loft and cavity wall insulation.

People are being urged find out more about the scheme as soon as possible, as teams of specialist workers are on stand-by and are available over the summer to carry out the work.
Coun Denise Jeffery, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Regeneration at Wakefield Council, said: “Although it may seem unusual to be talking about keeping homes warm when we’re experiencing such a hot summer, it’s a good idea to look ahead

“I’d encourage residents to find out more and apply for a grant as soon as possible. Having good insulation can make a big a difference in keeping homes warm and helping to manage heating bills.”
The scheme is part of the council’s drive to help residents save energy and money, and reduce fuel poverty.
The insulation work will be delivered by the council’s approved Better Homes Yorkshire insulation partner, A&M Energy Solutions.
