Coun Darren Byford, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for economic growth and regeneration, said: “As businesses begin to reopen, it’s been great to welcome people back into our vibrant city and town centres.
“I’m really pleased, how everyone has worked together to make this happen.

Hide Ad“The measures that we have put place to support businesses and their customers have been successful, and the feedback we have received has been positive, with the vast majority of people having behaved in a responsible way and have stuck to Government’s social distancing guidance.
“We still need to make sure that we all continue, whether as residents or as business owners and their staff, to work together to keep each other safe.
“I’d urge everyone who plans to go out this weekend, to have a great time and stay safe.
“Please continue to following social distance advice, to listen and to be respectful to our district’s dedicated hospitality and retail staff as they continue their work.”
