A dragon boat race which has raised more than £300,000 for charity is taking to the plunge once gain this weekend.
The Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge is being staged at Pugneys Country Park, Wakefield on Saturday, July 7.
More than 800 competitors from 39 teams will compete for the Stuart Wardell Memorial Trophy from 10am to 4.30pm at the site off Denby Dale Road.
There will be plenty of attractions on dry land and food.
Bob Guard, who helps organises the event for Wakefield Chantry and Huddersfield Rotary Clubs, said: “This is a great day out for all of the family. This year there will also be a Dragon Ride for younger children – on dry land of course. And the Pugneys Light Railway will be running. Also many of the charities who have entered the event will have activities on their team pitches so lots to see and do for all visitors.
“The Wakefield District Neighbourhood Policing Team will also be on site with a police vehicle and equipment that children can interact with.”
