Castleford Tigers boss Daryl Powell has confirmed that Luke Dorn will miss this Friday’s game at Warrington Wolves, but he is pleased to have two players back available who missed last weekend’s defeat to Salford.

Dorn added to the Tigers’ lengthy injury list when he damaged his hamstring and was forced to leave the field against Salford.

He joins a list of key players likely to miss the Warrington trip that includes Oliver Holmes (knee), Junior Moors (hand), Ben Roberts (foot) and Michael Shenton (knee).

But forwards Grant Millington and Frankie Mariano are both expected to be available to give Cas a boost in their pack, although head coach Powell has not yet decided whether the latter will come straight back in after missing all of pre-season and most of last season.

He told the Express: “Frank will be available this week and I’ve got to make a decision on whether I use him or not.

“He’s looking good, looking big and strong. He’s been doing a fair bit of running.

“He hasn’t been in the team sessions too much so we’ll get him involved in that this week then see how he goes.

“It would be good to have him back especially with back rowers out at the moment.

“Back row last week we used Cooky in there. He has played a fair bit of back row, but he’s more of a middle man.

“It was tough for us and we didn’t have any back row rotation. Players that usually do that for us were both injured, Millo and Moors.

“It was one of those games where injuries impacted heavily on our rotation again.”

Powell added: “Luke Dorn is getting a scan today and we’ll see how he is, but he will certainly be missing this week.

“I think Ben Roberts will still be missing this week and probably Oli Holmes as well. Junior Moors is still out.

“Grant Millington should be available, but it’s a pretty long injury list at the moment and you’ve seen with different teams that when they get injuries that bite deep into the squad it makes life difficult.

“We’ve been playing against teams that have got pretty much all their players available.”
