STAFF from a South Elmsall building society have pulled together to help a charity that has supported a cancer-stricken colleague.

Workers at the Yorkshire Building Society, Barnsley Road, nominated Andrea’s Gift for a £2,000 donation after it stepped in to help staff member Janet Cox and her family when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The money, which will pay for more than 600 sessions of counselling for cancer patients, was donated by the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

Andrea’s Gift helps people who have been diagnosed with brain tumours and funds research into curing the disease.

Jane Holland, branch manager, said: “Janet is a wonderfully respected and liked member of the community and an absolutely fantastic person to work with. We know how much support Andrea’s Gift has given her and her family throughout this incredibly difficult time and we wanted to do something to help them and, in our own way, thank them for the incredible things they do for people like Janet and their families.”

Carol Robertson of Andrea’s Gift said: “We are extremely grateful for the donation from the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

We do what we can to support people like Janet and their families when they’re facing incredibly tough times and we’re always pleased to receive the support of businesses like the Yorkshire Building Society in that mission.”
