Man fails roadside drugs and breath tests after 'almost colliding' with car in Wakefield city centre
A man failed a roadside drugs and breathalyser test after being seen driving "dangerously" in Wakefield city centre.
Police stopped the driver after CCTV operators saw him nearly crash into a parked car in the area in the early hours of the morning, a report said.
After failing the tests he was also arrested for possession of a Class A drug.
The incident happened on July 11 this year but has only now been made public.
The report, which was written by Wakefield Council's portfolio holder for communities, Maureen Cummings, said: "A male was arrested after being picked up on CCTV driving his car in a dangerous manner.
"The CCTV operative spotted him almost collide with a parked car in Wakefield city centre shortly after 1am.
"The car details and live video feed were passed to police and the car was soon stopped.
"Police officers carried out roadside breath and drugs tests which both proved positive."
