PUPILS enjoyed the great outdoors when they took a trip into North Yorkshire for a new art project.

The excited youngsters, from Carlton J&I School, visited the beauty spot of Brimham Rocks, in Harrogate, to bring out their creative side.

During the visit last Saturday, the year four pupils and their parents were encouraged to look at the rocks and sketch their own pictures.

The drawings will be displayed in the Hepworth Wakefield art gallery - which jointly ran the project with the school.

Headteacher Kathy Litton, said: “Following the trip an artist came into school to work with the children and develop their work. This is a really exciting experience for the children and their families and will hopefully lead to other year groups being involved in the future.”

The children will also visit Nostell Priory.
