The Laila Milly Foundation has already raised £165,000 to get the nursery up and running.

But the hard work is not over as Steven and Maya McCormack need to continue raising money for staff salaries, running costs and other vital equipment.

The charity is now looking to employ a part-time fundraiser who will be able to organise events, encourage further donations and apply for funding so that additional members of staff can be employed.

The role is for 21 hours a week and will be based at the nursery on Kirkby Road, Hemsworth.

Candidates should have good local knowledge, be enthusiastic and be passionate about expanding the charity.

Maya said: “We need to come up with extra funds so that we can employ more staff - people like qualified children’s nurses so parents can take a break. The fundraising does not stop here, which is why we are looking to employ someone. It will initially be for 21 hours a week but it could be full time in the future.”

The foundation also needs people to act as trustees.

This voluntary role will involve meeting up once a month.

Maya said: “This is to help with the general running of the charity and we want people from all kinds of backgrounds to get involved, whether it is the parent of a child who uses the centre or a retired resident.”

Anyone who would like to apply for the fundraising job or act as a trustee, should email or call Maya on 07846 986405.
