Chance to nominate council workers

RESIDENTS are being asked to nominate people who have made a difference in their area by putting them forward for a People’s Choice Award.

Wakefield Council hold the annual Pride Awards event and are asking for people to recognise council employees for the work they do in their job or for the local community or charities.

Joanne Roney, chief executive of the council, said: “These are very challenging times for the council – to deliver services to citizens with a significantly reduced budget.

“Our priority will always be to provide quality services to residents. Therefore, we want to continue to recognise the commitment of staff who do their very best for our residents in these difficult times.”

The Pride Awards recognise staff members who have gone above and beyond their call of duty. Visit www.wakefield.gov.uk to nominate, or email prideawards@wakefield.gov.uk.

A form can also be obtained from libraries, sports centres and markets, and should be returned to Pride Awards, Freepost, NEA5394, Room 8, Town Hall, Wood Street, Wakefield WF1 2BR, by February 10.
