Burglars stole a safe from a Castleford business after smashing through the building’s roof.

Police said thieves stole a safe containing cash from a business on the Acorn Industrial Estate, off Albion Street, overnight on Saturday into Sunday morning.

Thieves also broke into a separate firm overnight on Friday into Saturday morning.

Burglars broke into the Fun A Lot play centre, on Pottery Street, by smashing through some panels on the side of the building.

They stole cash from gaming machines in the play centre before fleeing the scene.

Insp Dave Bugg, of Castleford neighbourhood policing team (NPT), said: “These are quite strange incidents in that the theives broke in through the roof of one of the properties.

“It would seem the two break-ins could be linked given that they happened on consecutive nights and cash was taken in both burglaries.

“If anybody has got any information or saw anything suspicious around both firms at the time of the incidents I would urge them to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should contact Castleford NPT on 101. Or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
