A bowling-mad pensioner was thrown her first birthday party – at the age of 90.
Audrey Emmerson, who has been a member of South Elmsall Bowls Club for over 35 years, was given cards and cake by members of the disabled bowls team to mark her special day on September 26. The gathering took place at South Elmsall Social Centre.
Mrs Emmerson said: “I’m the eldest of 12 children, so birthday parties are not something that happened throughout my life. It was lovely to receive the cards and I’d like to thank everyone for a really nice day.”
The party was attended by mayor of South Elmsall, Coun Jack Thomas.
