Eastmoor Community Project has been boosted by a £10,000 donation from Warburtons.
The money will go towards the Healthy Steps project, which aims to reduce unemployment and encourage healthy lifestyles on the estate.
The programme is designed to boost employability and encourage healthy eating through a series of interactive workshops. It is intended to support at least 52 individuals throughout the year.
Emma Way, community development worker at the Eastmoor Community Project said: “It is fantastic to have Warburtons’ support on this project. This donation will allow us to support children and their parents on the Eastmoor estate, helping to make long-lasting change within the community”
Warburtons attended the charity’s celebration of the donation at their annual summer fair on Saturday, June 18. The bakery has previously supported them with a grant to help deliver healthy eating activities for children. They have also donated products to support this annual event.
Brett Warburton, executive director at Warburtons, said: “We are delighted to be working with Eastmoor Community Project to support families in the Wakefield area. As a family business ourselves, we place a high value on the importance of supporting families while also striving to make a meaningful impact within the communities close to our operations. ‘Healthy Steps’ is a great example of a programme improving the livelihoods of local people through employment support and healthy eating education.”
