Altofts man attacked Wakefield dad in own home as children slept Leeds Crown Court told

Michael Parnham struck his victim on the head with a small metal during the early hours attack at the house in Wrenthorpe, Wakefield, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor, Deborah Smithies, said the two men argued after Parnham claimed the man had stolen from him and owed him money.

Hide AdMis Smithies said 37-year-old Parnham, of Rose Farm Approach, Altofts, asked the man: "Where's my money?"
Miss Smithies said: "The argument became physical. The defendant had a small metal bar with him.
"During the scuffle he produced the metal bar and struck (the victim) with it, causing a small cut to his head."
The court heard the man also suffered a cut to his finger and some bruising during the incident on July 1 2018.

Hide AdMiss Smithies said the attack victim's son and daughter had been in their beds when the attack happened and came to see what was happening after hearing shouting.
MIss Smithies said the man told police: "I'm still in shock at what happened and I'm upset at the thought that he has put my children in danger."
Parnham, who admitted assault, has 15 previous convictions committed over a 20-year period.
The court heard is previous convictions are mainly for drugs and driving offences.

Hide AdJudge Tom Bayliss QC sentenced Parnham to an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Judge Bayliss told him: "This was a disgraceful thing to do. You went to the home of a man in the early hours and argued with him.
"You were armed with a metal bar and you struck him, causing him a small cut."
Judge Bayliss told Parnahm he must comply with a six-month 9pm to 7am curfew order.
