Alcohol sold to child

A HAVERCROFT store sold booze to an underage teenager during a police operation.

Premier Stores, Cow Lane, allowed the girl to purchase alcohol during a test purchase operation by the Wakefield Rural police team (NPT).

The store assistant who sold the alcohol was issued with a fixed penalty notice.

It was the second time the store had failed a test purchase operation in six weeks. The store also has no refusals book and no challenge 21 or 25 poster displayed, both of which are required by licensing law.

A police spokeswoman said: “We will take strict action on the stores that fail to adhere to licensing laws.”
