A daring duo from Havercroft will abseil 40ft to raise funds for a local woman who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
Julie Humphreys and Jane Martin, both of Brooklands Crescent, were inspired to sign up for the abseil after 18-year-old Leah Pearson, of Park Avenue in Brierley, was diagnosed with a grade four brain tumour in March.
The event will take place at the Cow and Calf rock formation in Ilkley on Sunday, June 16.
Miss Pearson - who is the girlfriend of Miss Martin’s son - is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Miss Humphreys, 37, and Mrs Martin,38, wanted to do something to help Miss Pearson while she undergoes treatment for the tumour.
They have already raised more than £800 in the space of a few weeks.
Miss Humphreys said: “I thought it would be nice to raise some money so Leah can treat herself to a pamper day or a nice spa session.
“Anything to help her get through the treatment really. We wanted to do something different so we came up with the idea of an abseil.
“Neither of us have done anything like this before. I’ve just lost a lot of weight and would never have had the guts to do it before.
“ I am still a bit scared about it but it will be worth it.
“Leah is a brilliant lass and she has been really brave through all this.
