A plan to build 105 homes has been approved by Wakefield Council.
Persimmon Homes is to develop two, three and four-bed detached and semi-detached houses in Alverthorpe on land just off Batley Road.
Managing director Wayne Gradwell said: “We are delighted to have had our application approved, bringing a wealth of much-needed new homes to Alverthorpe.”
He added: “The application will also benefit the community with contributions towards primary and secondary education, a new footpath along Batley Road as well as affordable housing.”
But the application met with nine objections from nearby residents and the Wakefield Civic Society online.
Terry Moran expressed concerns that the development “will be an imposing sight that denies us natural light and invade our privacy.”
The homes will be built at land just south of Batley Road.
But extra green land just south of the site will be left as natural open space.
