Junior doctor gets a prescription for fashion

BEING a junior doctor rarely leaves time for leisurely activities such as shopping.

That’s why judges handed this month’s Wakey Up Your Wardrobe Express competition winner a prescription for a day of fashion fun.

Joanna Corrado, 31, was named the lucky winner after being picked from more than 100 entries to enjoy £250 from Trinity Walk to spend at the city centre shopping mall.

The monthly competition gives one lucky person the chance to win £250 every month to spend at Trinity Walk with a personal stylist plus a makeover at Debenhams, hair restyle at Room 97 Creative Hairdressing and meal at The Chinese Buffet.

Busy Dr Corrado is currently researching how to improve service for patients, including around Parkinson’s and cystic fibrosis before returning to ward duties this summer.

She said: “My work doesn’t leave me lots of time to shop. So I tend to do a lot of impulse buying online. When I arrived for my winner’s day, it was nice to actually have the time to try clothes on.”

Trinity Walk’s personal stylist, Liz Clothier, helped Joanna plan her shopping spree.

The pair wasted no time, and after drawing up an idea of what kind of look Liz felt would work for Joanna, they hit the shops

A couple of hours and a dozen stores later, Joanna was the proud owner of two dresses and a blazer courtesy of the centre’s Debenhams.

A suit and jacket, plus two pairs of shoes were also bought from Next. The award-winning Room 97 Creative Hairdressing was the next stop. Stylists had fun working with Joanna’s fabulous dark hair. Estee Lauder at Debenhams was next to host Joanna with a makeover to complete her look before her Express photoshoot.

Dr Corrado said: “It was honestly a fantastic day, absolutely lovely. Everyone here at Trinity Walk was so friendly and Liz was great.

“I’ve learnt a lot including how to dress for my shape, what colours suit me and what don’t. I’ll be able to take away quite a lot of that info for the future. Apparently quite bold patterns suit me as well as quite bright colours. I should stay away from pale colours because my dark hair and fair skin can wash me out a bit. I think I was sort of drawn to that fact in many ways, so it was nice to know the fashion science behind it.”

To enter this month’s competition simply email [email protected] before Tuesday, May 8. Mark your entries ‘Wakey Up’. We need to know why you or the person you are nominating should win. Please don’t forget to include a daytime contact number and one for the nominee.

Joanna added: “I think people should definitely enter, you’ve got to be in it to win it - just do it, you never know really.”
