Pinderfields to be lit blue for NHS birthday celebrations

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust said they hoped the lighting would serve as a special thank you to everyone who has helped during the coronavirus pandemic,
Pinderfields Hospital has served as the base for coronavirus in the district, with hundreds of patients receiving round-the-clock care in the hospital's dedicated wards.

Hide AdMartin Barkley, Chief Executive of The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust said: “The Trust would like to thank everyone, we have all had a part to play. In the most difficult days our frontline workers were sustained by the support of the public and for that we are all hugely grateful.”
Wakefield Town Hall will also be lit blue on Saturday evening as part of a national campaign to "recognise, reflect and remember" those lost to Covid-19.
From 8pm, the public are also being encouraged to light a candle or place a light in their window as a mark of respect to those who have died.
And from 5pm on Sunday, millions of people are expected to take part in the 'Biggest Thank You Ever', the return of the Clap for Our Carers to mark the 72nd anniversary of the NHS' launch.
