Toybox Private Nursery has been praised as outstanding across all areas, saying children thrive in a setting which staff and leaders continuously evaluate to ensure the highest levels of care and education are provided.

Hayley Twist, who founded the nursery on Market Street 20 years ago, is thrilled, as the nursery was rated as Outstanding in the quality of education, behaviours and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

Hayley says: “I am so proud of all the staff. They’ve done an amazing job and are absolutely wonderful with the dedication and the work that they put in.”

The latest 2023 Ofsted report’s comments included:

Children enter the setting enthusiastically and are extremely happy in this stimulating and exciting environment
Leaders' have particularly high expectations for children's learning.
Children demonstrate good social skills and are kind and caring towards their peers.

The report said: “Children display exemplary behaviour. Staff act as very positive role models, as they respectfully talk to children and demonstrate good manners.”

Safe adventures for children of all ages

Hayley adds: “We really invest all we can into the development of the children and it so important, and wonderful, to us that our hard work has been recognised.

“It’s so important to build trust. That is why our parent relationship building is at the core of everything we do.”

Toybox welcomes babies, toddlers and young children from all over Yorkshire, from the ages of three months to five years of age.

There are special areas for each of the age groups, including a warm, welcoming Baby Cabin; the Little Toddler Room for youngsters between one and two; The Big Toddler Room for children between two to three years of age, where they start to learn about literacy and maths; and pre-school where children aged between three and five years old can express themselves.

Activities are often organised within the nursery, such as animal experiences to handle small pets, reindeer visits at Christmas, ice cream vans and other seasonal adventures.

Hayley adds: “Our team is committed to partnering with parents. Building trust with a nursery is so important.

“Mums and dads can watch the live webcams via a secure app on their phones, enjoy daily reports and always check in to see how their youngsters are getting on.”
