But anawnings and shutters firm that has installed coverings at some of Wakefield’s most popular restuarants said getting the city’s eateries ready for rain shouldn’t be too difficult.

Heckmondwike-based firm AMO Awnings has provided coverings to Grill Pit, Qubana, Yorkshire Deli, and Kindred Spirit.

Managing director Andrew Crookes said: “It’s about time we caught up with the rest of Europe. Outside dining might not be the first thing you’d think of in a city like Wakefield but with a bit of work it could easily be done.

We’ve fitted awnings to protect against the elements to plenty of bars and restaurants, and we’re not the only country that’s hit and miss with weather.”
