FEATHERSTONE centre Greg Worthington has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him at the Bigfellas Stadium until at least the end of 2014.
Worthington, who was 22 on Tuesday, has scored 19 tries in 43 first-team appearances since he joined Rovers in 2010 from Huddersfield Giants.
Rovers coach Daryl Powell said: “Greg is developing all the time and I think alongside Sam Smeaton we have got two of the best young centres certainly at our level and with potential to play at a higher level.
“We are delighted he has agreed to sign for two years and we are looking forward to seeing him develop further.
“Greg has a fair bit of ability and he’s a really tough character.
“He’s a top quality bloke as well and he fits in pretty neatly with what we are looking for in a player.
“He has proved himself to be an outstanding rugby league prospect for the future.”
Worthington said: “I am really pleased to have agreed to sign for a further two years.
“For my development as a player I feel committing to Featherstone is the right option.
“I would like to give credit to Daryl Powell and Ryan Sheridan who have guided me for the last two years and developed my game a great deal.
“I’ve really enjoyed the last two years and look forward to the next two years.
“I want to be part of the on-going success at Rovers which will hopefully culminate in a place in Super League.”
Rovers chief executive Craig Poskitt said “Greg has been in outstanding form this season and is putting in some very strong performances.
“Greg undoubtedly has a promising future in the game and we are delighted he has chosen to continue his promising career with Featherstone Rovers.
“Our squad for 2013 and 2014 is starting to take real shape now as we continue to build on and off the field.”
