Featherstone’s appointment of Sean Long as new football manager paid immediate dividends with Sunday’s 62-6 win at Workington Town.

Rovers bounced back from their shock defeat at Swinton Lions by running in 11 tries against outclassed Kingstone Press Championship rivals in Long’s first match.

They led 28-6 at half-time and added 34 unanswered second-half points to remain three points behind leaders Sheffield.

Will Sharp, James Lockwood and Jonny Hepworth each scored two tries.

Vince Mellars, Ben Kaye, Andy Ellis, Greg Worthington and Tommy Saxton also crossed, with Liam Finn kicking nine goals.
