FOLLOWING a convincing 62-3 win over Adwick-le-Street in the Yorkshire Silver Trophy last Saturday, Hemsworth RUFC first team coach Mark Wilson is keen for his side to maintain focus when they return to Yorkshire League Division 4 action this weekend.
Hemsworth travel to Leeds Corinthians with seven places currently between high-flying Hemsworth, in third, and Leeds who have lost all six of their games so far this season.
However, Wilson is eager to avoid any complacency from his troops going into a testing encounter.
He said: “Leeds enjoyed a good cup win over Stanley last weekend and although they have not had the best start to the season we know they are dangerous opponents.
“They beat us in Leeds last year and we know that they will be aggressive. We will have to front up to them but we are confident we can get a result if we do the job properly.”
Saturday’s game will be a dress rehearsal for the Yorkshire Silver Trophy second round tie to be played next month and Wilson is targeting a good cup run as well as a charge for promotion in the league.
He said: “The league is our priority but a good cup campaign is also important.
“Cup games give us an opportunity to test ourselves against higher league teams and if we can remain in the cup until Christmas then we should have a full strength squad to pick from.”
Wilson added: “We feel that we can match any team, particularly if we are at home, and the cup also allows us to go out and play a more expansive game.”
