HEMSWORTH RUFC head coach Mark Wilson has highlighted this month as vital if his team are to achieve promotion from Yorkshire Division Four this term.

The Moxon Fields men moved into the top-two at the weekend thanks to a convincing 25-3 victory over Mosborough and Wilson is aiming to stay there.

His side will take a break from league action today, Saturday, with a scheduled Yorkshire Silver Trophy clash against Leeds Corinthians on home soil (kick-off 2.15pm).

But a clash with third-placed Leeds Grovians follows before Grovians take on fourth-placed Harrogate Pythons.

“It’s going to be a very important month and one that could shape our season,” said Wilson.

“We’ll be going to Grovians all out for the win but if we don’t win we know they’ve got to play Harrogate the weekend after whereas we play Stanley Rodillians, the bottom side who we really should be beating.”

Tries from Rob Hooker (2), Dale Joburns, Gary Dyas and Rob Taylor helped Hemsworth to victory over Sheffield-based Mosborough.

They failed to add any conversions.

“We played very, very well,” said Wilson.

“It’s all coming together now, the defence was superb against a very good Mosborough side.”

Hemsworth had Dale Harrison and Dale Key sin-binned but it didn’t stop them running out comprehensive winners.
