Upton will host Sharlston Rovers in the second round of the BARLA National Cup after seeing off Morley Borough 22-18 on Saturday.
The Quarry Lane side had to battle back from 12-0 down against their Pennine League Division 1 opponents to progress.
Brendan Rooston, Ben Handley, Carl Spencer and Paul Coach bagged the Upton tries, while Steve Beal knocked over three conversions to ensure his side’s progression.
Premier Division Sharlston will provide stiff opposition in the next round, and will undoubtedly be favourites to progress, after they booked their place with a comfortable 46-0 win at Wyke.
Upton turn their attentions to a different knockout competition on Saturday when they visit Bentley Good Companions in the third round of the President’s Cup.
Kinsley Raiders were in Pennine League action at the weekend and enjoyed a slender 10-0 victory at Worth Village in Division Six to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Victory moved Kinsley to within two points of leaders Wakefield City, who were without a league match, with a game still in hand.
Raiders host Hunslet Old Boys in the Supplementary Cup third round on Saturday.
Ryhill Hammers had a weekend with no competitive action but will return this Saturday with a home match against West Bowling A.
Hammers will look for two points to keep their slim promotion hopes alive.
