A NEW Year did not bring new fortunes for Frickley Athletic on their travels as they kicked-off 2013 with a 4-1 defeat at Whitby Town.

The Blues are still looking for their first away points of the season in the Evo-Stik Premier League after the heavy seaside loss brought Athletic’s tenth defeat from as many away league matches.

Things started well enough for Karl Rose’s men as Jake Picton headed the visitors into the lead on the half-hour mark.

Whitby hit back before the interval, however, with Craig Farrell scoring the first of his three goals.

It changed the flow of the game and Farrell completed his hat-trick in the second half, while Ashley Corker also got on the scoresheet.

The Blues will be looking forward to returning to Westfield Lane when Rushall Olympic are the visitors on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
