CASTLEFORD Tigers have confirmed they would like to sign England star Gareth Ellis.
Castleford-born Ellis (pictured) announced this week he will return home from Australia in 2013 and is looking for a club over here after West Tigers agreed to release him on the proviso that he only signs for a Super League club.
Already several clubs are linked with the 30-year-old player, but he said last year that he would like to finish his career at his hometown club, a fact that has not gone unnoticed at Castleford.
Tigers chief executive Richard Wright said: “I spoke to Gareth last year and we had a chat about him coming back to Castleford.
“He will take his time and consider what his options are and I would imagine there would be other clubs in for him. But he has indicated he would like to play out his days at Castleford and if that’s the case we would love to have him.”
