CASTLEFORD Tigers and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats both return to action on Boxing Day, Monday, with their first pre-season trial games ahead of Super League XVII.

Tigers host Bradford Bulls, kick-off 1pm, while Wildcats travel to Headingley Carnegie to take on champions Leeds Rhinos in the Heatshot Festive Challenge (kick-off 11.30am).

It’ll be the first chance for supporters of both clubs to see their new-look teams in action ahead of the 2012 campaign.

Both clubs have new head coaches, with Castleford appointing Ian Millward and Wakefield appointing Richard Agar.

And big squad changes have followed for both clubs, not least Wildcats who’ve named 14 new signings in their 20-man squad for the trip to Headingley.

A Featherstone Rovers Select side will take on Sharlston Rovers at the Big Fellas Stadium on Boxing Day, kick-off 11am.

Rovers coach Darrell Powell is expected to field a squad consisting mainly of young players, but a sprinkling of new signings are expected to be on show.

Featherstone then take on Hunslet Hawks on New Year’s Day, kick-off 3pm.
