Featherstone’s stunning 48-26 win at London Broncos in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fourth round last night was marred by the first-half loss of Anthony Thackeray with serious facial injuries.

Thackeray, a close-season signing from Dewsbury Rams, was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw.

A Featherstone Rovers spokesman later stated that the stand-off had been discharged from hospital and would be out for four to six weeks.

Already without Kyle Briggs, Misi Taulapapa and cup-tied Andy Ellis, Rovers lost both Thackeray and Michael Channing with injuries during last night’s game.

John Davies switched to half-back after Thackeray was taken off.

Trailing 14-4 at half-time, depleted Rovers turned the game round with a magnificent second-half display which saw Ian Hardman bag five tries.

Featherstone, who have won their last five games, host Sheffield Eagles on Good Friday before visiting London again on Easter Monday.
