FRICKLEY Athletic’s woes continued at the weekend as the ten-man Blues fell to a 3-0 defeat at Matlock Town in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
The South Elmsall side last week announced plans to slash their playing budget in light of a shortfall in income and things got no better on the pitch as they slumped to their sixth defeat on the spin.
Ian Holmes gave the hosts a 1-0 lead after 12 minutes and Frickley’s task of getting something from the game was made tougher just before the break when striker Ollie Ryan saw red for an alleged elbow on Matlock’s Adam Yates.
Town doubled their lead two minutes into the second half through Holmes again before Benjamin Hunter completed the scoring with 20 minutes to go.
Defeat leaves the Blues 18th in the league table, four points above the relegation zone.
