Billy Mallinson has been appointed head of strength and conditioning at Featherstone Rovers.

A former teammate of Rovers head coach Jon Sharp, Mallinson has worked for both Hull FC and Hull KR.

Sharp said: “I played alongside Billy when I was at Hull FC and I was always impressed with his attitude as a player.

“He trained very hard, always put in 100 per cent and was always eager to do extra training.

“His attitude is fantastic and he has great character which is important in this vital role. I’ve followed his career and have always been impressed with the condition of teams he has coached.

“He is highly regarded in the game and people like Peter Sharp, Justin Morgan and Paul Cooke can’t speak highly enough of him.

“He works players hard and is always popular with whoever he has worked with and I know he is looking forward to working at Featherstone. “He’s one of the most important signings we have made during the close season and I’m looking forward to working alongside Billy.”

Mallinson said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting all the squad and getting ready for 2016. This is a new challenge for me at a fantastic club with a very proud history.

“The club is famed for its passionate supporters and I’m looking forward to utilising these fantastic facilities.

“I know Jon well and he’s brought together some great young athletes who will be a pleasure to work with as we aim to take Featherstone Rovers as far as possible.”
