Featherstone Rovers booked their place in the Championship Shield semi-finals with their first win under new head coach Jon Sharp.

A 42-30 home victory over Whitehaven on Sunday in Featherstone’s opening Shield fixture put them 14 points clear of fifth placed Batley Bulldogs with six matches remaining.

Points accrued in the regular season have been carried forward to the new competition.

Rovers will now be looking to make sure of a top two finish in the Shield table to clinch a home semi-final.
