FRICKLEY Athletic have been dealt a blow with the news that goalkeeper Ben Simpson could miss the start of the new season through injury.

Simpson, the Blues supporters’ player of the year last season, suffered a knee injury and will undergo keyhole surgery that will see him sidelined for a number of weeks.

Former Doncaster Rovers goalkeeper Jordan Bradshaw took over in goal for the Blues’ pre-season friendly against Hall Road Rangers at the weekend.

And he could continue for tomorrow night’s visit of a Barnsley XI to the Tech5 Stadium (kick-off 7pm).

The Tykes are expected to bring a mixed squad of youth and first team players to South Elmsall and a bumper crowd is expected for the Blues’ marquee pre-season fixture.

Tickets are priced £6 for adults, £4 concessions and £2 under-16s.
