Jason Walton is relishing the prospect of returning to Odsal for Featherstone’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fourth round tie against Bradford Bulls on Sunday.

Walton joined Featherstone in January after originally signing for Bradford late last year and he is looking forward to facing his old club even though he did not play for them.

Former Wakefield, Batley and Salford centre or second-rower Walton, who scored twice as Rovers beat Sheffield 47-22 last Sunday, said: “I started pre-season training last year with Bradford, so it will be a little strange to return there as a Featherstone player.

“The lads are really looking forward to it. It is going to be a game that generates a lot of interest and we intend to come out on top.

“As long as we perform and work hard, we will get what we deserve. We have got a great squad and are continuing to improve as the weeks go by.

“We got back on the horse on Sunday with a good win and the next step for us is progressing in the Challenge Cup. We won’t settle for anything less.

We worked hard going into the Sheffield game, after being caught off guard by Rochdale the week before, and the results were there to see.

“We went well in attack, but our defence will need to improve if we want to beat Bradford. They are starting to making strides and we realise their threat.

“We need to get back on a roll, stringing the victories together as we were doing.

“No one wants to get knocked out of the cup, so I am sure we will all be on it this week in training, fighting for a place in the team.”
