CHAMPIONS Featherstone Rovers bounced back from a 60-12 home defeat against Halifax by pipping Batley Bulldogs 31-24 in Sunday’s Co-operative Championship game at Mount Pleasant.
Rovers snatched victory in the closing stages after Batley recovered from 20-6 down at half-time to lead 24-20.
Greg Worthington’s 69th minute try levelled the scores and Andy Kain edged Rovers back ahead with a drop goal five minutes later.
They clinched victory three minutes from time when Anthony England (pictured) plunged over and Liam Finn added his third goal.
Nathan Chapell bagged two first-half tries on his return to the Rovers first-team after major knee surgery.
Their other try scorers were Matty Dale and Andy Bostock.
The win gave Rovers revenge for a 34-22 home defeat against the Bulldogs in the Northern Rail Cup group stages earlier this season.
Batley’s try scorers were Gareth Potts (two), Jason Walton and Keegan Hirst.
