Featherstone Rovers produced one of their best displays of the season to reach the Grand Final by beating defending champions Sheffield Eagles 21-12 at Big Fellas Stadium on Sunday.

Leading 21-0 at half-time, Rovers tackled superbly to weather Sheffield’s second-half fightback and book a showdown against Leigh Centurions at Headingley next Sunday (7pm kick-off).

Andy Hay’s men coped magnificently under sustained pressure in the second period after the Eagles had scored two converted tries in the opening six minutes of the half.

Scrum-half Gareth Moore, who missed Featherstone’s 40-28 home defeat against Sheffiueld last month through suspension, was a key contributor as Rovers dominated the first 40 minutes.

Moore supported Ben Blackmore’s delightful break to score a great try and kicked five goals including a drop goal.

Blackmore and James Lockwood were Featherstone’s other try scorers.

Quentin Laulu-Togagae and Peter Green crossed for the Eagles and Dominic Brambani added both conversions.
