Coach Jon Sharp hopes Featherstone’s postponed Kingstone Press Championship game at Whitehaven can be played on a weekend.

The match was scheduled for last night (Saturday) but was called off because the pitch at the Recreation Ground was unfit following heavy rain.

Sharp said: “Ideally, we would have liked to have played it. We want to keep playing to maintain the momentum and we don’t want fixtures building up.”

Sharp is keen to avoid a mid-week trip to Cumbria and hopes the game can be played on a Challenge Cup weekend if Rovers and Whitehaven do not progress to the late stages.

Discussions between the two clubs about a new date for the fixture will take place early this week.
