FEATHERSTONE coach Daryl Powell hailed his side's "sensational effort" after they pushed Challenge Cup holders Wigan all the way.
Wigan scraped through to the quarterfinals with a flattering 32-16 win after part-timers Rovers, who are aiming to secure a Super League licence in 2014. had twice held the lead.
Powell (pictured) said: "The profile of the club has gone up massively in the last six or seven weeks and I think the players can take a big pat on the back for that.
"I'm unbelievably proud. The frustrating bit of it is that we conceded points from the last play of the first half and one of the last plays of the second half.
"Some of that is a little bit of naivety at times but I can't criticise the players. It was a sensational effort.
"With the form that Wigan are in and the way they touched Hull up last week, you'd have to say it was a pretty special performance to push them as close as we did."
