Coach Jon Sharp praised Featherstone’s ‘fantastic’ display in Friday’s 30-22 defeat at Championship leaders Hull KR.
He also paid tribute to the large contingent of travelling suppporters in the 8,117 crowd.
“It was a great game and I really enjoyed it,” he said.
“There were a few too many penalties for my liking in the game but on the whole I thought it was a really good performance from our guys and probably a moral victory for us.
“We had six starters out and you couldn’t tell. We just ticked along seemlessly and smoothly.
“Kyran Johnson hasn’t played since last year. Playing at full-back, he got peppered by two of the best kicxkers in the Championship and dealt with everything.
“Josh Hardcastle was probably playing in front of 50 people last year and he did a great job. He does extremely well whatever level he plays at.
“I was really pleased for the squad. We saw that if one bloke steps out, another bloke steps in.
“I thought we were fantastic. It was probably our best performance this year.
“And the Featherstone fans are unbelievable.
“They were singing and shouting like we’d won by 30. They were brilliant and got behind the team all way through.
“We could hear them and they were getting louder. It was credit to them and credit to what we are trying to build here.”
