Two Castleford Tigers players who have impressed for the club this season have put pen to paper this week to commit themselves to more years at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

Castleford have moved to tie up winger James Clare and forward Grant Millington with new deals that have been agreed.

Clare’s contract extension will see him stay with the Tigers to the end of the 2016 season with an option of a further two years.

Speaking of his new deal, he said: “I really trust in what Daryl, Danny and Shez have set up here, so for them to back their trust in me is very rewarding.

“We have really exciting times ahead. Castleford Tigers fans are the greatest fans in Super League.

“I’ve grown up as a boy being a season ticket holder here and there’s just nothing better than playing down Wheldon Road in front of these fans.

“There’s been massive change on and off the pitch here over the past year, our community department, commercial, the academy set up, everyone here is working hard to build a massive future ahead for this great club.”

Head coach Daryl Powell said: “James is a young player who is constantly getting better and his try scoring ability is right up there at the moment.

“He is a great young bloke who I know will work exceptionally hard to grow his game and his attitude will give him the best chance of achieving his potential.”

Front Rower Millington, who could make his return from injury for the Tigers in this weekend’s crucial game against Catalan Dragons, has also committed his future to the Tigers with a long term contract extension that will see him stay until the end of the 2018 season with an option in the club’s favour to add the 2019 season.

He said: “I’m really happy and excited to extend my stay at Castleford Tigers until at least 2018.

“Living away from Australia can be difficult at times, but the family environment at the club makes life a lot easier for my wife Amy and I.

“I feel the Tigers as a rugby league team, and as a club in general, is moving in the right direction. Hopefully we can continue to build on the success we’ve had this season and I can’t wait to be a part of something special over the next few years.”

Head coach Powell added: “Grant has been one of the form front rowers in Super League this season, his toughness and durability have been a key part to our development as a team.

“He has a really strong skill set alongside leadership qualities and a great understanding of the game. I am delighted he has agreed to extend his contract with the club.”
