HALLAMSHIRE GC's junior squad came up short in their attempt to add the Home Nations club title to their English crown.

But they hope to build on their experiences at the Antequera golf resort, Andalucia, and become champions of GB & Ireland next year.

They narrowly missed out on the title when they took took third place in the Home Nations finals in Spain.

Their disappointment of losing to the eventual runners-up Murrayfield was tempered by a strong final day's victory over the All Ireland champions Kilkenny to claim third spot.

Hallamshire had qualified for the finals after becoming English champions last autumn.

Also up against them at Antequera were the English runners-up Burhill and two teams from each of Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the latter winning through the efforts of the team representing The Vale.

Hallamshire will now concentrate on building a squad to compete in this season's English event.
