South Elmsall Social Cycling Club rider Richard Watson racked up the miles last week as he made the most of the good weather.

Watson competed in the Barnsley RC 10 miles TT, finishing in a time of 31 mins 4 secs, just days after he had enjoyed the sun with a 70-mile ride in the Pennines.

Then, on Saturday, he got back on the saddle for another 80-mile trek, calling in at Howden along the way.

Clubmate John Martin continued his run of consistent form on Saturday by competing in the Belper BC 25 miles open TT near Derby.

Riders at the event struggled with the heat but Martin performed well and finished in 54 mins 41 secs.

On Sunday, he clocked up more time on the bike as he took part in a steady 65-mile ride around Carlton, Beal and Birkin.

Upton Cycling Club’s Paul Appleton took second place at Monday evening’s 8.113 mile time trial on part of the O25C course at Pollington & Heckmondwike with a time of 19 mins 1 sec.

Clubmate James Westerman also competed at the event, finishing in a time of 20 mins 47 secs.

On Wednesday, James Westerman rode the 10 mile Parksprings TT in 26 mins 11 secs, while Peter Stirk took on the 10 mile V718 course at Hull in 23 mins 19 secs.

Stirk then rode the 25 TT at Ranby in a time of 1 hr 1 mins 51 secs on Saturday, heading to France afterwards with fellow member Michael Kane to watch Le Tour de France.
