Talented amateur fighters from across Yorkshire and beyond packed a punch at White Rose Boxing Club’s latest boxing show at Lightwaves Leisure Centre.
The crowd packed into the centre’s sports hall for the 12-bout card, which saw eight boxers from the Wakefield club enter the ring against opponents from as far as Scarborough and Liverpool.
The night was a roaring success, despite only two of the eight White Rose boxers having their arms raised in victory.
Tom Crowther produced an impressive performance to see off McKenzie Glennon, of Bradford, while Cain Adams comfortably beat Jake Morton of Kirkby Amateur Boxing Club of Liverpool to chalk up the two home wins.
ABA National Schoolboys champion Sam Clark struggled to adjust to a different weight and fell to defeat against Kirkby opponent Connor Butler, while Wakefield’s Harim Ali and Rouf Waqas were both on the wrong end of controversial decisions.
There was also controversy over Emmanual Chinemlu’s majority defeat in the final bout of the night, while Chris Brown suffered a loss in his first amateur fight.
Matty Mason, of nearby Hemsworth Alpha Boxing Club, battled hard but suffered defeat in his bout.
