Pontefract and District Cricket League desperately needs new umpires for next season.

The league, which has nearly 100 teams, is looking for ex-players or those with a love for the game to umpire league and cup matches in the 2014 season.

No qualifications are required. However, clubs will fund and find any courses which will help potential umpires feel more confident in the position they hold.

The standard fee for an umpire is £35 per game with a free lunch on match days.

Those who are interested can choose the area in which they would like to umpire and receive support from the league throughout the season.

Even if people cannot commit to every Saturday the league will be delighted to hear from them.

A league spokesman said: “It will help us keep cricket being played at the highest standards and ensure the survival of local clubs.”
