BADSWORTH’S Ruth Laybourn has been selected for the England women’s rugby union team to play Wales in the opening Six Nations clash at Swansea RFC on Sunday (2.30pm).

Winger Laybourn, who plays for Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, was a successful athlete with Wakefield Harriers before concentrating on rugby.

She is a former student at Badsworth CE Junior School and Wakefield Independent School, in Nostell.
