MINSTHORPE Community College’s Football Academy celebrated the end of a successful first season by having an end-of-term tour to Peterborough and London.

The Academy, who finished second in their first season in the National Colleges League, had mixed fortunes over two matches.

They took on a college from Peterborough and won 4-2 but lost 4-1 against North London opposition the following day.

The blow from that defeat was softened, however, with a tour of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium to wrap-up their tour.

The Academy, pictured right with tour opponents, has pencilled in two trips for next year, to Barcelona next Easter before having another tour in the south of England at the end of the academic year.

And they’re welcoming new students to their squad, coached by the UEFA-qualified Martin Stringfellow and Jon Stanhope, for next term.

Students will also work to their Level 1 FA coaching badge and referee’s badge in the Academy.

For more information contact Jon Stanhope on 07772 065802.
