After coming out on top again in his personal battle with former team-mate Daryl Clark in last week’s game against Warrington Wolves, Castleford Tigers’ current number nine, Adam Milner, has earned praise from his boss.

Tigers head coach Daryl Powell is delighted with the way Milner has taken on the senior hooker’s role with Cas this year following Clark’s move to Warrington and was impressed with his latest display against the Wolves.

He said: “Adam Milner wasn’t great the week before and he responded in a really strong way.

“I thought defensively he was excellent. His darting around the ruck area was great and Adz has been really good for us this year.

“He has had two out of the three games where he has been challenged by Daryl Clark and come out on top, which is great for him in those personal battles.”

Powell praised more of his players.

He said: “Justin Carney has been pretty good the last couple of weeks. He’s strong, he’s got high energy, he’s been winning us penalties and obviously he scores his tries well, he’s a great finisher.

“Our pack’s been great, but Andy Lynch in and amongst that has been absolutely superb. Andy as a leader in there has been awesome,

“His game’s been great, with and without the ball and he’s just so consistent and plays massive minutes for us.

“I thought it was a really stand-out performance from the pack, particularly defensively.

“They went toe to toe with a pretty good pack and came out on top so it was a huge effort.”
