Wakefield Wildcats trio out to help Exiles to victory over England

WAKEFIELD Wildcats assistant coach Glenn Morrison turns his attentions to International Origin action today when England take on the Exiles in St Helens for the first of a two-match mid-season series.

The Australian is part of the Exiles coaching team led by Daniel Anderson and joined up with the squad at the start of the week.

Exiles’ preparations have been hit by the withdrawal through injury of Wigan pair Brett Finch and George Carmont.

But Morrison, who played last year when Exiles ran out 16-12 winners in the inaugural match, is pleased with how things are going.

“It’s been really good, a really relaxed camp,” he said.

“We’ve been doing a bit of work with our shapes and what’s going to be expected of them in the game, but when you’ve got the quality of players like that you just tell them their roles and they jump straight into it.”

He added: “It was great to play last year and then to get the call-up to be in the coaching system this year.

“It’s good to be involved and giving some input to the boys and we want to get the same result as we did last year.”

There may be no Wildcats player involvement in the first game but Morrison will be joined by Wakefield club-mates Simon Wray and John Lynagh in the Exiles camp.

Wray is the Wildcats physio and Lynagh is the team doctor and both will take on the same roles on international duty.

Lewis Williams, the club’s sports scientist, will also be in action on the international stage on Saturday when he takes his role as assistant conditioner for the England Knights against Ireland.
