South Elmsall pool ace Fisher makes history with World Nine-Ball Pool Championships success
SOUTH Elmsall pool ace Kelly Fisher made history last week when she won the Women’s World Nine Ball Pool Championship in Shenyang, China.
Fisher beat Fu Xiaofang 9-6 at the Richgate Shopping Centre to become the first woman to ever hold the World 9-ball and World 10-ball Championships at the same time.
Victory also cemented the 34-year-old’s status as the best player in the women’s game as she reclaimed top spot in the WPA world rankings.
Fisher, who will make her way back to the United States, where she has the nickname ‘Sureshot’, to defend her World 10-Ball title next month, said: “I am absolutely thrilled. I cannot explain how I am feeling.
“I just can’t believe it. I played really solid all week, and overall I am really happy with my performance.”
