IN the same week that Frickley Athletic have announced that their management team is set to leave the club, there have also been changes in the boardroom with Steve Shorthouse announcing his resignation as vice-chairman and director.

A statement released by the club confirmed Shorthouse’s decision to step down from his position for personal reasons and added: “All at the club thank him for his efforts during his time with the club and wish him well in the future.”

However, coinciding with Shorthouse’s departure, Athletic also revealed that Phil McCroakam has joined the board.

McCroakam, a management consultant who worked for a number of financial services and consulting firms before setting up his own company, is a lifelong Blues’ supporter.

McCroakam said: “Things on the pitch didn’t go to plan last season but everything off the pitch is in the best shape it could be and that’s a testament to the members of the board and the volunteers over the last few years.”

He added: “My hopes for the club are that we can turn ambition into success, we have long term plans in respect of the new facilities but we also have some short term things we need to fix so it’s going to be a case of balancing these out.

“The bottom line is protecting the long term future of Frickley, moving higher up the league and then into the Conference North.”
